Wednesday’s Midweek Senior’s Lunch

Every Wednesday at 11:30am we serve a hot, healthy lunch to anyone in the community who is 60 years of age or older. This is a great opportunity to get out of the house and make new friends! Alongside One Care, we co-host a pre-lunch light group exercise session that starts at 10:30am and we also offer a post-lunch program, which usually includes a special presentation from a community organization or service, or a guest performance from an entertainer. As with all our meals and programs, there is no charge, however donations are always gratefully accepted.

  1. The seniors’ lunches are always delicious & nutritious.

    Thank you SO MUCH !!

Would you give away the recipe for those fantastic cream cheese cookies that were served April 6?

  2. Cream Cheese Cookies
    (Makes about 24 cookies)
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
    3 ounces cream cheese, softened
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
a handful of dried currents, nuts, or other things that will give your cookies some colour and crunch
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Using a standing mixer or hand beaters, cream together the butter, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy, 5 to 8 minutes. Mix in the flour and salt, just until incorporated. Scrape down the bowl and give it a quick stir with a spoon to make sure everything is evenly mixed.
Drop the batter by tablespoonfuls onto baking sheets lined with parchment, leaving about 1 1/2 inches between each cookie (they will spread a little). Bake for about 12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown. Do not over-bake, or the cookies won’t be chewy! Cool slight on the cookie sheet, and then remove the cookies with a spatula and let them finish cooling on a rack.
