Your Generosity Fuels Us

As food prices rise, more people in our community face difficult choices: cut back on groceries, forgo healthy options, or go without food entirely. Your support ensures that The Local CFC remains a place where everyone can access nutritious, affordable food.

Every week, people walk through our doors looking for food, connection, and understanding.

By donating, you join and support us in promoting connectedness, enhancing belonging, and working to build a stronger, more resilient community for all.

You can donate directly, or in-kind.

You can also support us by shopping at our Access Markets. Shopping in our market expands our purchase power and will save you money from your grocery budget that could be donated to support the costs of our programs.

When you donate, you’re not just giving money — you’re preserving a vital space where people come together to support one another. Together, we can create a healthier, more connected community for all.

Every week through the year we also send 75-80 servings of warm soup or stew to the Connection Centre in Stratford for people who are precariously housed or unhoused.  This is annually about 3,600 additional meals to the most vulnerable in our community.

Every week we provided fruit bags and meals to the Outreach Clinic nurse practitioner to share with she meets who are homeless or precariously housed.  This is 768 bags of fruit and another 390 meals annually.

These efforts are crucial to ensuring that no one is left behind in our community.

Help Keep Good Food Accessible for All

Since 2012, The Local has brought our community together with nourishing meals, affordable markets, and programs that inspire all ages to cook, garden, and connect. At the heart of it all, we foster a space where people can support each other with dignity and respect.

The Growing Need for Support

As food prices rise, more people in our community face difficult choices. In 2025, 25.5% of Canadians experienced food insecurity, forcing many to cut back on groceries, forgo healthy options, or go without food entirely. Your support ensures that The Local remains a place where everyone can access nutritious, affordable food.

Ways to Give

We often get asked if people can donate items — food, furniture, or other things?

Food donations are frequently offered, but in most cases we must respectfully decline.

As part of our commitment to providing access to nourishing foods, The Local Community Food Centre primarily relies on our major donors, monetary donations from community members and small businesses, and responsible procurement practices to ensure we provide healthy and sustainable food for our programs. We do not accept individual food donations, with the exception of surplus from vegetable gardens.

Contact markets@thelocalcfc.org to confirm whether your donation meets our food safety and program requirements.

Instead, we encourage the community to support our efforts through monetary donations or volunteering for regular shifts or special events.

Other items (furniture, equipment, etc.): Contact admin@thelocalcfc.org to see if your donation can be put to good use.

Donate Your Car

Donate a Car Canada accepts Vehicle Donations for The Local Community Food Centre. Free towing is provided in most areas across Canada, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation. When you donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or motorcycle to The Local Community Food Centre through Donate A Car Canada, it will either be recycled or sold at auction (depending on its condition, age and location). Donate a Car Canada will look after all the details to make it easy for The Local Community Food Centre to benefit. After your vehicle donation is complete, you will receive a tax receipt and we will put your gift to good use. Please click here to donate a vehicle.
