Our trusty truck has held up to the 250,000 lbs of fresh local food needed for community meals and programs each year for the last 6 years.

This truck is always on the go. Her many trips to the Elmira Produce Auction to buy locally grown, seasonal produce at wholesale prices, shuttles of large-scale donations from food companies, farms and butcher shops are only outdone by her deliveries to take our market model to surrounding towns in the region. Listowel, Milverton, and Seaforth have all learned how to run similar markets that provide healthy food at a reduced cost. It also delivers fresh produce to the town of St Marys where volunteers help reduce the barriers that members of their community may have to accessing good, healthy produce. Occasionally, it even acts as a parade float visibly representing community, empowerment and dignity.

These days, The Local’s truck spends more time in the shop and we are concerned that retirement is near.

We need your help to purchase a replacement.

A new truck would allow our storehouse team to continue and also travel to auctions, pick up large scale food donations, and expand the reach of our Access Market throughout the county to help even more people.

Funds help! We are grateful for every dime to invest in our infrastructure.

Partners welcome! Large donors can show their support and gain brand awareness and appreciation within our community. The new truck can carry your logo as a highly visible symbol of food justice. We are looking for the right partner to continue our work serving and advocating for good food for everyone in the community.

“There’s so much I’ve learned from different programs. Doing something different. Trying foods I’d never tried because I didn’t know how to cook them or what they tasted like.”
