Hi, my name is Liz Mountain and I just want to say it is a real honour to join the Local Community Food Centre team as the Food Skills Coordinator! To bring together two of my passions – growing and cooking food – within the same job is a dream come true. I can’t think of a better way for me to use these skills than helping others learn them too!
My earliest memories are of helping Grandpa Duggan in the garden. As a two year old, I didn’t get to do much, but I experienced the magic of pulling a carrot from the garden and have been inspired ever since. About the same time, my mother was letting me use her baking pans as stacking toys while she worked in the kitchen. Destiny was already at work … .
Being in a position of bringing my passion to others to enable food literacy is the culmination of experience (over 30 years as a professional food service worker) and education (I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education). It is with great enthusiasm that I join Steve and Matt in the important work of promoting food security in our community.
