Kate’s Kitchen #27 | Cold Remedies

This week Kate shares some of her secret weapons for boosting your immunity and warding off seasonal colds and flu symptoms.



  • 2-3inches fresh ginger, sliced or grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1-2 tsp turmeric (or 2 inches fresh)
  • 10 whole cloves or ¼ tsp ground
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne 
  • 3 cups water
  • Juice of lemon
  • 1 tbsp honey


  1. Stick the ginger, spices, and fresh water in a pot. Bring to a boil, and simmer for at least 15-20 minutes.
  2. Strain out the spices and pour them into the pot, this is now your tea concentrate. You can store it in a jar in the fridge for 5 days.
  3. When you are ready to drink, add ½ cup of concentrate to ½ cup hot water with some lemon juice and honey .
